DESCRIPTION
The Yoga traditions hold a complex understanding of the subtle / energetic body. The life force that is generated and channeled in the practice is what makes sincere practitioners of yoga powerful in their lives. These life force energies are built up by Pranayama (breathing practices), and are contained by a strong stable body. The formality and function of Katonah Yoga sets us up impeccably well to be able to house this currency.
In this workshop we will look at the main Indic traditions the feed into the popular idea of the subtle body within modern postural yoga. We will discuss the sources of these concepts originating from Samkhya, Hatha, and Tantric understandings of the body and the universe.
Expect a Katonah Yoga asana practice each day along with:
Discussions about historical context and theory
Lessons on mudras and bandhas
A break down of the main pranayama practices within Hatha Yoga
